The Cleveland Browns are one of the most hyped teams in the entire NFL. While the offense has been a work of art, the defense is just a few pieces away from becoming dominant. JJ Watt would put them over the edge.
Watt is one of the best pass rushers in the history of the NFL, and he has plenty of gas left in the tank. Putting the soon to be 32 year old in an improving Browns defense especially on that defensive line would be a nightmare for opposing offenses.
While Watt may be nearing the end of his prime and could be on the decline, the opportunity to play alongside Myles Garrett would be destructive. Having to worry about one of the best defensive linemen in the entire NFL, and then adding in Watt would make offensive lines hate playing Cleveland.
Watt in Cleveland would most likely end up with Myles Garrett having better production and Watt staying at around nine or ten sacks. But make no mistake Watt’s impact would be seen in the trenches every single snap.
Other candidates such as Green Bay do not have the dominant rusher that is Myles Garrett, and allowing this duo to exist would open up holes never thought possible for this defense. This defensive line would stuff the run with ease and get to the quarterback quickly, the perfect winning formula.
No matter where he goes, Watt is going to be an elite edge rusher for at least 3-5 more years. Having him in Cleveland would give him a chance to win a Super Bowl within that time frame.
While many dream of having Watt in Wisconsin back at home, the best chance for him to be most productive and win a ring, would be Cleveland. Ohio.
In terms of where he should be expected to sign, most likely he will find a way to get home to Green Bay, but do not count out those Browns in this conversation.
